DIEFENBAKER
(A Mountie's Best Friend)

• COLOUR: Silver-gray with tan coloured legs (Sometimes his colour changes, sometimes minimally, other times maximally - if you've seen the "Dief" from the pilot episode, you know what I mean).
• DISABILITIES: Deaf (One day, Ben fell into Prince Rupert Sound, Dief jumped in to save him and his ear drums burst from the pressure) though seems to be able to lip read.
• TEETH: 42, all very sharp.
• WEIGHT: 50-100 pounds
• SPEED: 0-56 km/h (cruising speed of 8-14.5 km/h)
• NAMESAKE: John Diefenbaker, Prime Minister of Canada, 1957-1963.
• FAVOURITE FOODS: Junk food.
• GIRLFRIEND: A husky named Maggie. Fathered pups with her.
• FRIENDS: A pack of strays that he hangs out with. They once knocked over 20 odd garbage cans in a row, but he did help to clean up afterwards.
• DOWNFALLS (Or Secret Shames): According to Benton, he's been getting soft since coming to live in the city (IE stealing the blankets... he's an arctic wolf for God sakes). Ate the fish in the small aquarium after Benton saved them from a fire in the Vecchio household.
• HOW HE CAME TO BE WITH FRASER: When he was a pup, he was trapped in a sort of Bear trap (basically, a big hole in the ground). Since it was hidden by the snow, Benton didn't see it, he fell into it, was knocked out cold. A while later, he woke up to find Diefenbaker with him. To help, (although still not sure how to get himself out) he picked up Dief and threw him up, out of the hole. A rock proceeded to fall from above, onto his head, knocking him out again. When he regained consciousness again, he glanced up. The wolf pup, having been so grateful and wanting to help Benton in turn, was still above, trying to figure out what to do. As Benton watched, a wooden plank fell on him, knocking him out, once more. Diefenbaker jumped back into the hole with him. Although they don't explain how the both made it out, the two have been together ever since.
