- Our nation's capital is Ottawa, Ontario
- Our country has two official languages, English and French (Other unofficial languages included are Inuktitut - spoken by the Inuit - and 50 native linguistic groups with 180 sub-dialects. ).
- Canada is comprised of 10 provinces and 3 territories (Provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Québec, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. Territories: Yukon, North-West and Nunavut).
- We communicate across 6 time zones
- Canada has a total area 9,970,610 sq. km (1km is the metric equivalent to 0.6214 miles. To convert km to miles, divide the kms by 3 then multiply your answer by 2. Example: 96/3=32. 32x2=64 miles.) (Contrary to some beliefs, we are NOT a quarter the size of Texas).
- In 1999, Canada's population was 30,491.3 people(in thousands)(The highest concentrations being in Ontario - with Ottawa and Toronto there, it's not surprising).
- The only time that we have a lot of snow up here is during the winter.
- Contrary to the saying "North of the 49th parallel," not all of Canada is. In fact, some of Ontario dips as far down as the most northern reaches of California.
